I think that measurements are needed to resolve these problems. The Casimir effect is the type of measurement that should be able to shed some light on this. This effect starts to have an effect at around 100 nm. This should be enough to quantify the zero point energy.

In the research paper, “Quantum Holography with undetected light”, they showed that it was possible to sense an interaction of an entangled photon with its entangled partner in a camera. This is also new physics. I tried to put in a link, but can't do it in a reply. My reply disappeared when I tried. Check out my writings if you are interested.
